Learn about the products we use
A plain-English guide to the mesh, powder coat, saddles and fasteners that go onto your roof. Below you'll find what each component does, why we chose it, and how it stands up to Australian sun, embers and gum leaves — so you know exactly what's protecting your home.
Our mesh and material range
Our full range of mesh and component options. Your installer will recommend the right combination for your roof type, vegetation and BAL rating on the day of the on-site inspection.
Aluminium Mesh Gutter Guard
Two mesh sizes, one system. Our 2mm woven aluminium is the standard ember-rated guard — fine enough to meet BAL bushfire ratings and keep leaf litter out of the gutter. Our 4mm aluminium is the heavier-duty option used for bird mesh and valley mesh applications. Both finished in AkzoNobel Interpon D1010 powder coat and colour-matched to major COLORBOND® and equivalent colour ranges. Same 20-year warranty across the range.
Steel Mesh Gutter Guard
316 marine-grade stainless steel for coastal homes, salt-spray zones and BAL-FZ properties needing the highest fire rating.
Ember-Rated Mesh (Bushfire)
2mm aluminium or stainless steel mesh tested and compliant for BAL 12.5 through to BAL-FZ. AS 3959-2018 compliant. CSIRO flammability index 0.
Bird Mesh for Gutters
Stop birds nesting in your roof. Our 4mm aluminium mesh fits over the gutter line to keep myna birds, pigeons and starlings out of the roof space — they get in through the gutter, not the tiles, so that's where you block them. Worth knowing: valleys don't need bird mesh. We've tested it on hundreds of roofs. Birds don't enter through valleys, so paying to mesh them is money down the drain. 20-year warranty.
Bird Mesh for Solar Panels
Pigeons love the warm, sheltered gap under your solar panels — and once they move in, you get chewed wiring, blocked airflow, and droppings baking onto the glass. Solar bird mesh clips around the perimeter of your array (no drilling, no warranty issues) and seals the cavity for good. We install it as a standalone job or alongside a full gutter guard fit-out.
Valley Mesh
The valley is where most roofs fail. Leaves and twigs pile up in that V-shaped channel between two roof sections, and once it blocks, water has nowhere to go but sideways — straight into your ceiling cavity. That means stained ceilings, mouldy plaster, ruined insulation and, eventually, structural rot. Our 4mm aluminium valley mesh keeps debris out and lets water run clean. Strongly recommended if you've got gum trees, paperbarks or anything overhanging the roof. 20-year warranty.

Common questions
Which mesh is right for my house?
For most metro Australian homes, 2mm woven aluminium with AkzoNobel Interpon D1010 powder coat is the right call. We also offer 4mm aluminium for bird mesh and valley mesh applications. Within 5km of the coast or in BAL-FZ bushfire zones we switch to 316 stainless steel. Your installer will recommend on the day.
Is your mesh CSIRO tested?
Yes. The 2mm aluminium mesh we install has been independently tested by CSIRO. Flammability index 0. Withstands flame to 660.3 degrees Celsius. AS 3959-2018 compliant for BAL 12.5 through to BAL-FZ.
What is the warranty?
20-year product warranty on the mesh (backed by Gutter Guard Warehouse and AkzoNobel Interpon D1010) plus 20-year installation warranty (backed by My Gutter Guards). Both written into your contract. Transfers if you sell the property.
Do you stock spare mesh after install?
Yes. We hold mesh for repairs and additions across the install range, including box-gutter and valley profiles.
What colour will the mesh be?
Your mesh is powder-coated in AkzoNobel Interpon D1010 and matched to the major COLORBOND® and equivalent colour ranges, so it blends into the roofline rather than looking like something bolted on top. You'll pick your colour from the standard palette when you place your deposit and confirm your order — easy to match whatever's already on your roof.
